Information for oral presenters

    Preparation

You are required to be present at your session 15 minutes before the start of your session to meet with the session chair, to connect your laptop or put your presentation on the general computer and to answer any questions that you or they may have. You will find them in each session room near the stage.

You are required to bring your presentation on your own computer or on a flash drive. If you bring your presentation on a flash drive and you want to use the computer in the lecture room, your presentation should be a Powerpoint (Powerpoint 2016 or backwards compatible) or pdf file.

All rooms have VGA and HDMI. The projectors in the room have a projection ratio of 16:9 but will accommodate 4:3. A laser pointer and a lavalier microphone will be provided.

    Presentation

Please remember to strictly observe and not exceed your allotted time: 17 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions in a 20 minute timeslot. (Keynote presentations: 25 presentation + 5 minutes for questions.)

Please repeat all questions after they are asked. Often the audience does not understand or hear the question and it is extremely useful for the question to be repeated.

Information about poster pitch presentations

Droplets 2019 has two Poster Pitch Sessions (after each of the Plenary talks on Monday and Tuesday). Selected poster pitch presenters will present their work to the entire conference audience followed by their poster presentations during lunch the same day. The list of selected poster pitch presenters can be found here. Due to the large number of posters it has not been possible for all posters which will be on display at the lunch poster session to be scheduled for a poster pitch talk in the Poster Pitch Sessions.

Authors selected for the Poster Pitch Sessions should submit a maximum of 2 slides as a pdf (aspect ratio 4:3), without any videos or animations. The first slide should clearly display the poster number, presenter’s name and the title of the poster. All the slides will be compiled in a single pdf presentation sequentially. The speakers will be arranged in the order of their talks next to the podium during the questions following the Plenary Lecture to allow for a smooth transition between talks.

Pitch presenters will be given 90 seconds to pitch their work to the audience including a changeover time of approximately 10 seconds.

Poster pitch presenters should email their two slides by Friday 13 September to prashant.agrawal@northumbria.ac.uk and copied to droplets.19@durham.ac.uk with the subject line “Poster_Pitch_Pxx_Surname” so that the presentations can be compiled and can be uploaded before the session. No changes in the slides will be allowed after this date.

The authors who have not been selected for the poster pitch sessions will still participate in the poster sessions during lunch time on either Monday or Tuesday.
